U.S. Parents Involved in Education ACTION (USPIE Action) announces its endorsement of South Carolina conservative candidate Kizzi Gibson who is seeking the Republican nomination for SC Superintendent of Education.

USPIE Action is the legislative affiliate of United States Parents Involved in Education with the shared goal of abolishing the US Department of Education and ending all federal education mandates.

USPIE Action President Sheri Few says, “USPIE Action is pleased to extend their support to Kizzi Gibson as the best candidate in the Republican Primary. She stands against the sexualization of children and child pornography in SC schools; the indoctrination of children in Critical Race Theory under the guise of Culturally Relevant Pedagogy and Social Emotional Learning; biological boys competing in biological girls sports; and mask mandates for children.” Mrs. Few went on to say, “Dr. Gibson has also agreed to advance the mission of USPIE Action by conducting a cost of compliance study to begin weaning the state off the federal dole and out from under federal education mandates.”

Kizzi Gibson is sincere in her positions in contrast to her opponents in the Republican Primary. The following are just a few observations about her opponents’ positions.

Kathy Maness is campaigning as a conservative and yet she
-is paid to lead the SC Teacher’s Association (in reality the SC teacher’s union);
-opposes School Choice for parents;
-supported Universal Mask Mandates as a town councilwoman and masking children in schools;
-was praised by Nancy Pelosi and Kamala Harris, and
-publicly campaigned for Joe Biden’s $1 trillion spending bill in 2021.

Lynda Leventis Wells has said publicly she is opposed to Common Core and Critical Race Theory, and yet as a member of the Greenville County School Board she
-did nothing to address the replacement of Common Core a.k.a. SC College and Career Ready Standards and the aligned assessments for more than ten years;
-made the motion to adopt the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion policy adopted by the Board May 25, 2021, which advances equity, social emotional learning, a bias free culture, and specifically directs the utilization of culturally responsive teaching; and
-voted to approve ESSER III federal funding that requires the advancement of equity and inclusion and social emotional learning.

Ellen Weaver has said publicly that she is opposed to Common Core and Critical Race Theory, and yet as a 6-year member, and even Chair of the Education Oversight Committee (EOC) she
-made no attempts to address the replacement of Common Core a.k.a. SC College and Career Ready Standards and the aligned assessments;
-approved of the Community Block Grants program criteria for applicants to model a Social Emotional Learning program for 0-5 year-olds; and
-approved of the EOC Executive Director being trained through the Riley Institute’s Diversity Leaders Initiative that immerses its trainees in diversity, equity, and inclusion, and whose trainer is quoted on their website talking about the murder of George Floyd and saying there is a heightened awareness of the reality of systemic racism.

Please further consider this article published in the New American magazine in 2018 about the organization Ellen Weaver founded and directs.

South Carolina parents and children need a sincere leader for oversight of the state’s education system. South Carolina needs Dr. Kizzi Gibson. Please join USPIE Action in support of Dr. Gibson on June 14th in the Republican Primary!
